History of the Baher-23

The Baher-23 is a new type of rifle adopted by the Iranian military as a very heavy sniper rifle. It fires a massive 23mm projectile, which is more suitable for small-caliber guns than rifles, and has a range of up to 4 kilometers.

The weapon is primarily used to defeat low-flying air targets, lightly armored vehicles, and enemy personnel hidden behind solid walls, although nothing prevents it from attacking people directly - with truly devastating consequences, of course.

The weapon is a complete sniper system that requires a two to three man operator and weighs about 62 kg. It is mounted on a special, adjustable heavy-duty tripod designed to absorb some of the violent recoil inherent in weapons of this caliber. The rifle also gained more traditional components, including optics mounted above the receiver, pistol grip and shoulder rest.

The extended barrel is closed by a large slotted brake.
