History

BRO-32 is the second spacecraft in Unseenlabs' Generation 2 RF-detection series, following BRO-31 which launched on 7 July 2026 aboard SpaceX Transporter-17. BRO-32 was deployed to orbit on 1 October 2026 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-18 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. Integration was managed by Exolaunch. The launch marked the first time Unseenlabs sent a Generation 1 and a Generation 2 spacecraft to orbit on the same mission, bringing the constellation to 25 satellites.

Design

BRO-32 is a microsatellite, a larger class than the Generation 1 nanosatellites that form the bulk of the constellation. Its radio-frequency detection payload covers the L, S, C, and X frequency bands, a broader spectrum than the S- and X-band emphasis of the earlier generation. This wider band coverage enables detection, identification, geolocation, and characterization of a broader range of RF emitters across maritime, land, and space environments. Like other BRO spacecraft, BRO-32 uses Unseenlabs' monosatellite technology, performing geolocation autonomously without requiring paired satellites for triangulation.

BRO-32 operates within the same constellation as the Generation 1 spacecraft. Unseenlabs, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Rennes, France, operates all BRO satellites from mission control in Rennes. The company processes RF data on dedicated French servers and delivers geolocation products to a global customer base including governments, marine underwriters, shipowners, and NGOs.

Program status

Following its 1 October 2026 deployment, BRO-32 is operational. Unseenlabs continues to deploy both generations within a single constellation, with maritime monitoring remaining the core application and Generation 2 opening additional fields of application.

Operators
