History
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP is a Ukrainian armored tactical pickup developed by UkrArmoTech on the Dodge RAM 5500 chassis. It is intended to transport personnel, unmanned systems, ammunition and other cargo in combat areas while providing armored protection.
The pickup is a derivative of the broader GYURZA-01 armored vehicle platform. Compared with the larger personnel-oriented configuration, the pickup emphasizes cargo capacity, mobility and a compact protected compartment for up to five fully equipped service members.
On 21 September 2026, Ukraine's Ministry of Defence announced that the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP had been codified and authorized for supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The vehicle had completed the process required to confirm its stated characteristics before approval.
The pickup was developed in response to military requirements for a versatile armored vehicle that combines protected personnel transport with substantial cargo capacity. The GYURZA-01 platform was also identified as suitable for evacuation, logistics and the installation of additional mission equipment.
Military requests have also been received for medical evacuation and operational pyrotechnic vehicles based on the GYURZA-01 platform. These configurations were requests for further development rather than confirmed production variants of the pickup.
Design
The UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP uses the Dodge RAM 5500 as its base chassis. It is powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins engine and uses a ZF transmission. The vehicle retains civilian-style controls to simplify operation and is designed around components for which spare parts and consumables are readily available.
The armored body provides Level 2 ballistic and fragmentation protection under STANAG 4569. Mine protection is rated to STANAG 4569 Levels 3a and 3b. The vehicle combines this protected cabin with a rear cargo area capable of carrying almost 2 metric tons.
The pickup is equipped with external and video observation systems, electronic warfare or electronic protection equipment, fire suppression for the cab and engine compartment, ventilation and air conditioning, and a winch. Night observation equipment is also fitted. Optional equipment can include a semi-automatic tire inflation system, an anti-spall liner and a filtration and ventilation unit.
The vehicle is designed for operation beyond paved roads and can traverse rough off-road terrain, dense vegetation, marshland and boggy ground. Its maximum speed on hard-surfaced roads is approximately 110 km/h.
Program status
As of September 2026, the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP had been codified by Ukraine's Ministry of Defence and authorized for supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The available information confirms approval for procurement and supply but does not establish a specific production quantity or fleet size.
