History
The Glock 31 is another member of the Glock line of successful semi-automatic pistols for military, security and civilian applications. It is based on the Glock 22 series, full size .40 S&W version of the original Glock 17 9x19mm Parabellum model. Of particular note for these guns mentioned is the use of high magazine capacity - 15 to 17 rounds. as usage increases.
357 SIG cartridge, Glock developed the Glock 31 model specifically to fire this cartridge, with modifications to the barrel, magazine, slider and receiver to compensate for the increased recoil.
Externally, the Glock 31 follows the proven line of the entire Glock range. The collection features the clever use of plastic and metal in a compact form. The look is dominated by sliders, and the back is ribbed to hold it securely while guiding the sliders.
The grip is ergonomically designed with finger grooves for a secure grip, while the curved trigger assembly is housed in an elongated trigger guard. All controls (slide release, magazine release, safety) are easily accessible with the thumb of the launcher. The magazine is inserted into the bottom of the pistol grip in the traditional way. After removing the safety device, the slider can be operated to insert the cartridge into the chamber. There is a recoil spring under the barrel, both are enclosed by a slide and control the recoil action.
The action is classified as a short recoil with a sloping barrel design.
The Glock 31 is designed for . 357 SIG cartridges, standard capacity magazines hold up to 15. A 17-round count is also available, which no doubt sticks out a bit from the bottom of the grip. The weapon has a barrel length of 186 mm (7.32 in) and a height of 138 mm (5.43 in). The total weight is 660 grams when empty and 940 grams when fully loaded.
The trigger pull is 5.5 pounds of pressure. The barrel has a right-handed hexagonal twist pattern. Iron sights are provided at the rear and front of the slide.
