History of the McMillan TAC-308

The McMillan TAC-308 (McMillan Tactical Rifle) is designed for military and security forces operating in urban environments. Its chamber can shoot the tried and true. The 308 Winchester cartridge comes from a heavy-duty, free-floating, matched-quality barrel (the barrel does not touch any part of the stock along its length, improving accuracy).

There are three main variants of the TAC-308, the main difference being the type of magazine and barrel used. Rifles are also used for competitive shooting.

The TAC-308A model series has an A3 series stock, a 20" threaded barrel and a detachable magazine. The medium 20" profile barrel is match grade with 1-11 twist and polygon twist. Detachable box magazines hold 1 to 5 cartridges (10-round boxes are also available).

The A-3 stock has lifting rings and an integrated cheek and LOP spacer system.

Similar to the TAC-308B but fits the A-5 series stock, with a 24" medium profile barrel with a threaded cap and polygonal rifling. The magazine holder is also a detachable 5-round box magazine that supports 1 to 5-round or 10-round boxes.

The A-5 stock features a stock, integrated adjustable cheeks, LOP spacer system and lifting eye.

The TAC-308C also features an A-5 series stock and a medium 24" profile barrel with polygonal rifling and no threaded cap. The TAC-308C is used with a hinged floor system.

The entire range of the TAC-308 series relies on a proven Remington-style trigger mechanism. Action is a G-30 McMillan short action for .308 Winchester. Regions are optional. Featuring a Dura-Coat metal finish, it is available in black, olive, grey, tan and dark earth.

The pistol grip is almost vertical and is integrated into the stock as usual. The bolt shaft is located on the right side of the gun body. Optics (including night vision goggles) and bipods are optional accessories for the entire TAC-308 series.
