History of Milkor MGL-140
The South African Milk Group has a long history of developing versatile, lethal and non-lethal military-grade automatic grenade launchers. One such development is the fourth-generation Milk "MRGL" ("Multi-Range Grenade Launcher") - also known as the "MGL-140" - which supports a wider selection of ammunition. The product was added to the company's product line in 2008, further enhancing Milk's grenade launcher expertise.
The MGL-140 takes its name from the length of its chamber (140mm) and continues the features of the earlier Mk 1L model series. The MGL-140 is also the basis for the USMC M32 MGL/MSGL model series.
The MGL-140's extended six rounds enable it to support Standard Range (SR), Extended Range (ER) and Medium Velocity (MV) shells. Depending on the projectile, the weapon can have a range from 375 meters (SR) to 800 meters (MV). The weapon's internal (semi-automatic action) mechanism allows the operator to clear all six chambers in rapid succession within three seconds - in military settings or crowd control operations, allowing for heavy suppression fire when needed.
The weapon's relatively compact size (761mm overall length/6.5kg weight) makes it portable by a single grenadier, and the weapon can be further mounted on vehicles, boats and helicopters. The MGL-140 showcases Milkor's standard closed-eye gun sight.
Its shoulder straps can be folded for different levels of comfort. The included fore grip acts as an auxiliary support point, connecting the primary shooter to the grip and shoulder rest.
