History of SRM Weapon Model 1216

The shotgun market has changed significantly over the past decade, with models featuring multiple barrels, automatic fire modes and other features not typically found in this range of firearms. SRM Arms manufactures the Model 1216 Shotgun, a 12-gauge semi-automatic pistol with a polymer stock, Picatinny attachment rail and four-barrel magazine.

Perhaps the most notable quality of this gun is the aforementioned magazine, which consists of four spring-loaded tubes that hold the shells in a rotating arrangement. These tubes are mounted parallel to the barrel below the barrel assembly and contain up to four 12-gauge shells (depending on model).

As a result, the shotgun can carry up to 16 shells, and each barrel can hold a different type of shell to suit the mission. The operator has complete control over which tube brings subsequent rounds into action when fired.

All controls can be reversed for left-handed use, and the Picatinny rail mount supports a variety of tactical accessories.

There are three main variants of the 1216 model series, including the basic full-length 1216 model. The barrel length of the Model 1212 was shortened (13 inches), resulting in a corresponding reduction in overall length of 27.5 inches. However, the cartridges could only hold three shells each, reducing the total number of shells (to 12 rounds). The Model 1208 is a short-barreled version of the Model 1216, with a 10-inch barrel, reducing the overall length to 24.5 inches.

This reduces the ammo capacity to a total of eight shells in the four usable barrels. The three guns weighed 7.25 lbs, 6.75 lbs and 6.25 lbs and all had the same semi-automatic barrel delayed recoil system.

Supported firing types include warhead, #00 buck, trap-loaded, field-loaded, and specialty shells (12-gauge, 2 3/4" and 3" shells as specified by the manufacturer). Disassembly is done with thumbtacks.
