History of Pindad SPR (Senapan Penembak Runduk)
The Pindad SPR (Indonesian abbreviation: Senapan Penembak Runduk, Sniper Rifle) is a family of sniper rifles manufactured by Pindad. The weapon allows the shooter to adjust the height and stability of the position by adjusting the rifle bipod located under the front of the handguard.
There are four variants of SPR. The SPR-1 and SPR-3 are loaded with 7.62?51mm NATO cartridges, the SPR-2 is loaded with . 50 BMG cartridges and the SPR-4 is loaded with . 338 Lapua Magnum cartridges.
The SPR-2 was shown to the public in 2007, which included Vice President Yusuf Kara.
Pindad unveiled the SPR-4 in October 2017, when the company announced it would use the Penyertaan Modal Negara or State Capital Participation to loan dignitaries including President Jokowi to produce a new munitions factory. It will be sold to India in partnership with Bhukhanvala Industries for future orders from the Indian military and law enforcement agencies.
