History
The JS 9 is a Chinese submachine gun designed for international markets, derived from the QCW-05 used by the Chinese army. Manufactured by China Ordnance Equipment Group Corporation, it maintains the original's form and function but caters to global needs by accommodating 9mm cartridges and omitting an integrated carrying handle. Ideal for security and law enforcement forces worldwide, the JS 9 is especially favored by special forces due to its compatibility with suppressors and armor-piercing rounds.
Designed by Construction Industries and introduced in 2006 under the banner of Northern Equipment Co., Ltd., both the QCW-05 and JS 9 are currently in full production, with the former preceding the latter by a year. The JS 9 features a regular recoil firing mechanism from an open bolt, offering a fire selector for semi-automatic and full-automatic modes. Its flexibility in using both locally designed armor-piercing rounds and generic 9x19 Parabellum rounds, along with a 20 or 30-round detachable magazine, enhances its versatility on the field.
Externally, the JS 9 closely mimics the QCW-05's bullpup configuration, with a left-side ejection port and a short polymer stock accommodating the forward-curved magazine. The ergonomic pistol grip integrates into an elongated trigger guard, promoting ambidextrous use. Weighing a manageable 4.4 lbs, the JS 9 boasts a compact design with a top-mounted Picatinny rail system for attachments such as silencers, optics, night vision goggles, and laser sights, making it well-suited for military, police, security, and special forces engaged in close-quarter operations.

Action
Backflush operation
The air pressure created by the rearward movement of the fired case provides the necessary bolt movement, case ejection and stripping of the new case from the magazine.
Open the latch
The system uses an internal mechanism, in which the bolt and associated working parts are located in the rear of the receiver, without a cartridge chamber. Pulling the trigger moves the bolt forward, chambering the cartridge and firing the bullet in one motion - and eventually resets throughout the cycle by the energy generated.
