P1-SUN JetKiller is a Ukrainian high-speed interceptor unmanned aerial vehicle developed by SkyFall to engage jet-powered Shahed-type one-way attack drones. It is an enhanced member of the P1-SUN interceptor family and was created in response to faster Russian unmanned aircraft that reduced the time available for ground-based defensive systems to react.

SkyFall developed JetKiller during a three-month program in 2026 after receiving a requirement from the Ukrainian Armed Forces for an interceptor able to pursue high-speed targets. The company unveiled the aircraft at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2026 and planned to begin mass production in August.

The interceptor is intended to provide a lower-cost layer of air defence against attack drones. This role can preserve conventional surface-to-air missiles for aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats. JetKiller is not a replacement for those systems because its speed, range, endurance, sensor reach, and small warhead restrict the engagements it can perform.

Development

JetKiller builds on the standard P1-SUN, whose reported maximum speed is approximately 310 km/h. The new version increases stated maximum speed to 370 km/h and is specifically intended to counter jet-powered Shahed derivatives. SkyFall said Ukrainian radar observations showed some targets reaching about 400 km/h but not sustaining that speed throughout their flight, creating opportunities for interception.

The design reflects the need to reach an engagement area quickly and then use automated terminal guidance during the final approach. SkyFall has also discussed launching the interceptor from aircraft. An airborne launch could conserve battery energy otherwise consumed during climb and extend the useful engagement area, although no standard operational airborne configuration has been disclosed.

Combat testing

The manufacturer stated that JetKiller had already undergone combat testing and achieved dozens of confirmed hits before its public unveiling. Other reporting cited more than a dozen jet-powered Shaheds destroyed. These claims had not been independently verified, and no detailed engagement records or official interception rate were released.

SkyFall separately claimed that the wider P1-SUN family had destroyed thousands of drones since late 2025. Those figures concern the family rather than JetKiller alone and should not be treated as independently confirmed performance data for the new variant.

Design

JetKiller is a small electrically powered interceptor designed for short-duration, high-speed flight. Its exact airframe dimensions, mass, propulsion arrangement, battery capacity, and launch equipment have not been published. The aircraft can be configured with analogue or digital day and thermal-imaging cameras for target acquisition and operator awareness.

Guidance

An automated terminal-guidance module reportedly detects and locks onto an aerial target at a distance of up to 1 km. Automation is particularly important in a high-closing-speed engagement, where only a few seconds may remain between acquisition and contact.

The complete engagement process requires external detection and cueing before the onboard seeker can acquire a target. Radar, acoustic, optical, or other sensors must direct the interceptor toward a suitable interception point. SkyFall has not disclosed the command link, navigation method, resistance to electronic warfare, or procedure used if terminal lock is lost.

Warhead

The interceptor carries a warhead weighing approximately 500 g. Public information does not identify its explosive content, fragmentation arrangement, or fuze. It is also unclear whether a successful engagement requires direct impact or permits detonation at a small miss distance.

The small warhead is consistent with attacking relatively light unmanned aircraft, but effectiveness depends on closing geometry and the location of the hit. Published specifications alone do not establish the probability of destroying each class of Shahed-type target.

Engagement geometry

JetKiller has only a modest speed advantage over some jet-powered targets when approaching from behind. It is therefore more effective when ground sensors position it ahead of the target for a crossing or head-on engagement. Against a faster aircraft, a sustained tail pursuit may be impossible even when interception remains feasible from a favourable direction.

At the stated maximum speed, a theoretical 30 km straight-line flight would take just under five minutes. Actual missions must reserve energy for launch, climb, manoeuvre, target search, and possible corrections. Consequently, the published maximum range and 15-minute endurance cannot both be assumed under every flight profile.

Program status

As of August 2026, P1-SUN JetKiller had been unveiled, was reported to have completed combat testing, and was planned for mass production. SkyFall announced an ambitious production objective for the P1-SUN family, but the achieved output of the JetKiller variant was not publicly documented.

The system remained closely tied to wartime development, where software, sensors, propulsion, and tactics can change rapidly. Publicly stated characteristics describe the version presented in 2026 and may not apply to later production batches.
