History

The AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon, commonly known as JSOW, is a United States air-launched precision-guided glide weapon developed through a joint U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force program. It was designed to let aircraft engage targets from outside many local point-defense envelopes while providing day, night and adverse-weather capability.

Design

JSOW is a 1,000-pound-class air-to-surface standoff weapon built around a common box-section airframe. After release, deployable wings provide lift for an unpowered glide toward the target.
