History
The StarGate is a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the company SkyFall specifically for the medical evacuation of wounded soldiers from hard-to-reach areas of the front line. The concept originated from a request made by a commander with the callsign "Flint" of the 475th Assault Regiment Code 9.2. Development took place over the preceding year, after which the system was transferred to Ukraine for trials and subsequently assigned to a combat unit for evaluation of its effectiveness and reliability under combat conditions.
Specifications
The StarGate is a hexacopter configured for medical evacuation. It carries a medical capsule with fixed stretchers, capable of lifting a payload of up to 150 kg, which is sufficient to transport a soldier in full equipment.
Maximum speed is 105 km/h and one-way range is 15 km. The declared cost of one system is approximately $50,000, depending on configuration.
For resilience against electronic warfare, the drone uses dual communication channels via Starlink and the L-Link system, combined with AI-based navigation. In the event of complete loss of control and GPS signal, the system can independently plot a route and return to a safe zone. During trials, the StarGate also demonstrated a defense system against attacking FPV drones using a net gun.
