History
The ROBONEERS Rys PRO is a Ukrainian unmanned ground vehicle designed as a modular platform for military missions including logistics, casualty evacuation, reconnaissance, surveillance, fire support, and armed configurations. Its design allows mission-specific equipment to be installed on a common ground vehicle.
In 2026, ROBONEERS and ARX Robotics established ARX Industries to expand production of the Rys PRO at facilities in Ukraine and Germany. The joint venture planned to manufacture several thousand Rys PRO vehicles during its first year and progressively increase annual output to tens of thousands.
In September 2026, the Rys PRO was incorporated into the codified ShaRys PRO Mk.19 (M) combat system. This configuration combines the vehicle with the remotely operated Shablya Mk.19 (M) combat module and a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
Design
The Rys PRO is a remotely operated unmanned ground platform developed around a modular mission concept. The same base vehicle can be configured for different battlefield roles by changing or installing mission equipment. Supported applications include cargo transport, casualty evacuation, reconnaissance, surveillance, fire support, mining and demining equipment, and armed modules.
The platform weighs 555 kg without weapons and ammunition. Maximum speed is stated as 12 km/h. Its driving range is 70–85 km on hard surfaces and 25–35 km over rough terrain. Continuous operation while moving is stated at up to five hours, while battery endurance in standby mode is 72–85 hours.
Remote communications are stated to reach 1.1–2.7 km in open terrain and 0.6–0.8 km in rough terrain. These figures indicate that operating distance depends substantially on terrain and communications conditions.
Combat configuration
The Rys PRO serves as the base vehicle of the ShaRys PRO Mk.19 (M) combat system. This configuration uses the remotely controlled Shablya Mk.19 (M) weapon station with a 40 mm AGL-53 automatic grenade launcher, an Mk 19, or an equivalent weapon. The weapon system has a stated effective engagement range of up to 1,500 m. Horizontal traverse is up to 160 degrees, while vertical movement extends from -10 degrees to +65 degrees.
The complete ShaRys PRO Mk.19 (M) system requires two operators. Deployment takes up to 10 minutes, with a similar time required to fold the system after use. The combat module can conduct aimed fire using preset coordinates.
Program status
The Rys PRO has been deployed with Ukrainian Armed Forces units and is intended for continuing production for Ukraine's Defence Forces. The ARX Industries production program announced in June 2026 is intended to manufacture the platform at facilities in both Ukraine and Germany.
The 2026 production plan called for several thousand Rys PRO units during the joint venture's first year, followed by a gradual increase toward tens of thousands of units annually. These figures are production targets rather than confirmed completed quantities.
Codification of the ShaRys PRO Mk.19 (M) configuration in September 2026 made that complete combat system eligible for Ukrainian state procurement and potential serial supply. The codification applies to the integrated combat configuration rather than establishing that every Rys PRO platform is delivered with the weapon module.
Mission configurations
- Logistics: The base platform can transport supplies and other cargo in frontline conditions.
- Casualty evacuation: The vehicle can be configured to remove wounded personnel from hazardous areas.
- Reconnaissance and surveillance: Mission-specific equipment can be installed for observation and reconnaissance tasks.
- Engineering missions: The platform can carry mission modules for mining and demining tasks.
- ShaRys PRO Mk.19 (M): Armed configuration combining the Rys PRO with the Shablya Mk.19 (M) remotely operated combat module and a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
Operators
- Ukraine: Rys PRO systems have been deployed with Ukrainian Armed Forces units, with expanded production intended to support the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
